Starting from version 1.9, the template has added PWA functionality.

What is a PWA?

PWA is a technology that allows you to "install" your store as an "app" on a smartphone (a mobile application in a browser). If a buyer does this, an icon with your store's logo will appear on their home screen or in the application menu, and when clicked, your store will immediately open.

Currently, PWAs can be supported on iOS, Android, Windows, Linux, macOS, and Chrome OS in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Opera, Edge, and Samsung Internet browsers.

  • Push notifications - not yet, maybe they will be in updates. The foundation for them is there.
  • Caching works in browsers that support service workers - link
  • A message about the possibility of installing pwa is displayed in browsers and OSes that support pwa -link
  • Browsers without support for beforeinstallprompt - links may display a native message about the possibility of installing pwa, but unfortunately there is no way to influence this.

Caching by ServiceWalker also slightly reduces the load on the network - the cache is stored locally on the user. The pages themselves, style files, scripts, images, font files are cached. In the template panel, you can configure caching strategies, cache lifetime and the number of entries in the cache.

There are also settings for the page that will be displayed if the internet connection is lost and the requested page is not yet in the cache.
